Understand and measure
The London Underground asked us to review the PPE and workwear used across its Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines, stations and depots.
We conducted a survey, which uncovered significant variation in the products and goods being ordered.
Control
With the survey results guiding our decision-making, we:
- Trialled new products.
- Established a core range of PPE and workwear.
- Implemented our ordering portal, CtrlCloud, so that staff could easily order the products they needed.
Improve
Through these changes, we were able to deliver:
- Cost reduction: An incredible 39% cost saving.
- Product development: Our disposable orange PPE products now make it easy to identify which staff are wearing the correct PPE.
- Transformation:
With accurate reporting (by centre, individuals and products), the
London Underground can ensure its staff are protected. Plus, a new RFID
system tracks which consumables have arrived at each depot.
