This year’s presentation was held as part of Anglian’s Supplier Engagement event on Friday 5th September at Kingsgate Conference Centre, Peterborough. The awards are the utility company’s way of saying thank you to its suppliers and partners and recognising the contribution they make to the success of Anglian Water.
Tower were nominated for the Do the Right Thing – Protecting the Environment award for our PPE recycling service and the impact it has had on Anglian Water’s sustainability.
The environmental award highlights the overall success of our secure and circular PPE and workwear recycling service, delivered in partnership with Avena Group. Between April and June, this initiative diverted over 6,000 kg of retired garments from landfill and saved 3,000 kg of CO₂ emissions - with projected annual savings of 24,500 kg of waste avoided and 12,000 kg of emissions reduced.
“This achievement is a testament to what collaboration can deliver", said Kim Bowcutt our Head of ESG, "By working closely with Anglian Water, we have shown that even complex waste streams can become a source of environmental value.”
Although we had already been nominated for the Do the Right Thing award, Supplier of the Year came as a pleasant surprise to me and Bjorn Woodfield, as we collected the awards on behalf of Tower.
Anglian said Tower deserved the second award for not just support with sustainability, but the launch of our Six-Point PPE Programme. The new programme provided a complete product review to identify the optimum PPE across head, face, body, hand, foot, and ear protection, to increase representation, safety, and sustainability.
