This part of EN 12402-5 specifies the safety requirements for buoyancy aids with a buoyancy of no less than 50 N that are used in sheltered waters with rescue personnel close by and under circumstances in which bulkier and buoyant devices could impair the user.

These specifications apply to buoyancy aids used by adults and children who are conscious and competent swimmers.
ISO 393 is not applicable to one-piece suits.
